Gmail is awesome, but needs a new look
Gmail truly owns online email.  We especially like the way it groups sent emails and replies into conversational threads. And Gmail is far better at filtering out spam than any other web account we’ve ever had. Very cool.
If only Gmail were a little prettier. The interface is just drab and plain. Not like AIM Mail, which has a very modern and clean look:

In addition to being pretty, AIM Mail offers plenty of space — 2 gigs. In fact, the only thing we don’t like about the AIM Mail interface is the use of old-fashioned banner ads, as opposed to Gmail’s text ads. Gmail has spoiled us with their low-key aproach to advertising.  But AIM Mail is still a very good alternative to Gmail, especially if you have a well known AIM IM username you want to use as an email address.  However, we’ll be sticking with Gmail — it’s just too good at what it does to give up. And the new integration with Google Talk is awesome. Even so, an extreme makeover is long overdue.
By the way, if anyone needs a GMAIL invite, leave a request in the comments, and be sure to fill in the email address field (it won’t be publicly visible, or used for anything other than your gmail invite). We have a few hundred available. Â
