Kickin Office 2007 Old School

Posted on December 17th, 2007.

office_menu.gifOffice 2007 is great, but the new menu-free tabbed interface means a pretty steep learning curve. Classic Menu for Office 2007 from Addintools puts the familiar menus back in place, on a “Menus” tab (see picture). The price is a little steep, at $29.95, but there’s a free trial. Office for Windows was introduced — with menus — in 1990. If you’ve been using MS Office for up to 17 years, this product might ease the transition. It’s really an option Microsoft should have included.

If you haven’t upgraded to Office 2007 yet (and don’t want to), you can make your older version of Office compatible with Office 2007’s new file formats (docx, etc.) for free with the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack.
